 PANTERA---------REINVENTING THE STEEL------2000 REVIEW: Here we have 10 slabs of Heavy Metal meat that are very raw....you can feel the the blood but you can't see it. No attempts at ballads on this one or even slow ones. It is 10 cuts of just pure thrash metal from one of the best of that genre. I wouldn't really say there is anything new, just straight ahead kick you in the face music. From the opener Hellbound to the closer it is one good heavy ride. On the opener the drums really kick in.........that is how you get the term headbanging......you can't help yourself. Great song title with Yesterday don't mean Shit and you can take that a few ways for a meaning. I believe what they are saying is it doesn't matter what happened in the 90's or before that cause now its year 2000 so its a new year and century. I'm sure this release could inspire some bands to play like this instead of going along the lines of the way music has headed. We'll Grind that Axe for a Long Time is another great title and my fav song......it is just so heavy and just kicks your ass. If you ever liked Pantera you will love this.....if you want to try something heavy for a change.....well get this. It has really grew on me after a few listens and its still making my ears bleed. FAV CUTS: I'll Grind that Axe for a Long Time, Yesterday don't mean Shit, Uplift FAV LYRIC: "There's a part of me that is always 16" RATING: 9 |
