Well as the story goes every good man has a great woman behind him,and in my case every good woman....(well you get the picture.)My husband Chuck is all about the outdoors, I mean to the point it's the other woman. But that was just the thing I needed to develop my ever growing love for the water. We often made bets to see who could catch the most fish and I have to admit he did beat me sometimes.Of course if you ask him and he is truthful he will tell you that a fiew times I stomped him. Most of the time it was a simple bruise on his eago. He is in a club near our hometown that feeds the federation for BASS,and if I do say so he does quite well,so when he seen I could hold my own against him he got the idea that maybe we could be the "it couple" of local tourney's.
We started fishing a local lake every thursday night with our 2 and 3 year old boys on the boat with us.(To you that are wondering yes it was a challenge.)When we started to bring money home almost weekly that just made us more confident. My hubby decided to start entering us in much larger tournaments called Norton with other people who are local pro's with lots of big sponsors.Needless to say I was a bit nervous,I mean were just a couple that loves to fish.Right?
So there I was 3:30 in the morning on my way to my first big tournament hardly any makeup and hair that would scare a mouse. But we went and had a blast. That was the day I learned two people can use the same bait and one will slay them while the other is now known as get the net.My husband bless his heart tried so hard to catch them but no luck,I guess technique really is key and I am a finess girl.We didn't place we were 38 out of 120 something boats, but remember we were fishing against the big dogs in a big tournament so we were still proud. And every since then I have been hooked on competative bass fishing.
