As I approach the last few months of my undergraduate education, I find myself confronting the biggest decision in my life. A decision, which will shape the future course of my education and, eventually decide the professional that I am to be. However, I have absolutely no uncertainty or doubt in proceeding along the path that I have been contemplating, the past few years. I have decided to pursue graduate studies in the field of Internet Communications & Networks.

My decision to embrace the fine profession of Engineering has been the result of numerous influences. I hail from the family of successful engineers and technologists. Right from my childhood the excitement and vitality of being a part of the profession has amazed me and impressed me throughout my education career. Simultaneously my school has provided me with good basics of mathematics and sciences and my consistent academic performance boosted my confidence about my capabilities. In school I was one of the students who were awarded scholarship on merit. It is my firm belief that engineering degree is ideally suited on which strong academic career can be built. The conjunction of these influences had been but to affirmation of the growing desire within me to become a successful engineer. In my high school I opted for mathematics, physics and chemistry as my major and developed good understanding of the basics. The hard work was shown when I secured a rank in the E.A.M.C.E.T through which engineering seats are allotted as per merit base in twelfth grade. I was placed the top 5% from about 120,000 who take this test every year. |
And then came the question, what discipline? My choice of computer science and technology was a direct consequence of my convictions. The world around us is engaged with the communication and when this communication is done with the help of computer technology then life is going to become easy and faster. Hence this is an important realization for my decision to study Internet Communications & Networks.
From my childhood I was interested in the internet and used to spend 24 hours a week accessing the internet. In my eight standard I have presented a paper on how viruses are crated and how can they effect your system in the inter district science competitions held in the year 1998 at medak district which took me to the state level. |
In my undergraduate curriculum, I was exposed to a plethora of subjects in C, Operating systems, Computer organization, Design and analysis of algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Computer graphics and Advanced Computer Architecture. During my freshman and sophomore years, a series of courses in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry re-introduced me to these subjects, but now with a fresh Engineering outlook. Courses like Java, Data base Management systems, UML, UNIX, Multimedia and Web Design And Computer networks, Data communications exposed me to ideas of INTERNET COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKING. |
Now, after more than two years of undergraduate study, I am extremely pleased with my decision. I am convinced that Computer science and Engineering is an area which vibes very well with my creative and intuitive perspective. And within Computer Science, I have discovered that the area of Internet Communications & Networks me the most and I would like to specialize in the same. But an undergraduate education is definitely deficient, when the ultimate objective is specialization. |
My undergraduate education has given me a solid background for graduate study in the Network communications. My Java has introduced me to the Object oriented programming concepts, threads, Multi threading, Exception handling, Synchronization, Network and Database handling using JDBC, Multitier applications using JDBC form a servlet. It gave a view to establish a simple server and client. I was also introduced practically with the Database management system which forms the base for the network. Database Management system was consisted of SQL, SQL plus, Embedded SQL, Dynamic SQL PL-SQL, File Organizations, Query optimization and evaluation, Database design, Concurrency Control and recovery. In my Penultimate years of my undergraduate study I practically studied subjects like Object oriented analysis and Design through UML, Microprocessors, Language processors and advanced UNIX programming. I have studied subjects like computer networks, network security and cryptography, Multimedia and web design which gave me a solid back ground to the network communications. I have also developed excellent programming skills through C, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Operating Systems and System programming, Principles of Programming Languages Advanced U NIX programming and Language processors in my undergraduate years |
I am now looking for a Graduate School that encourages me to give my best. A university renowned for its excellent Faculty, Facilities and Opportunities. For someone with goals like mine, joining the University should be a sound decision.
I would be delighted to join such a University. I hope that my credentials are found worthy of admission with full financial aid.
