As a DJ I have been very lucky to have played in so many places like: Ecuador, my home town Quito, Barcelona, Palmas de Majorca, Plymouth, Leeds and London where I reside now. While studying at University of Plymouth, house parties were almost every week for 3years, then I came back to London where I managed to get my residency in the first and only Latin American radio station broadcasting through South London 106.5FM RUMBA. Some of the well known places I have played with Rumba Promotions are the Fridge, Colisseum and Jamm. Also, I have been a guest DJ at QUE RICO!, Heatwave Vs Mas Fuego , Turnmills, Got2Go and Rococo. Since May 2005 I have been working in conjuction with Nuevo Ritmo Promotions featuring all the Latin Urban beats. We created Salsa With More Flow also known as SWMF which is held once a month @ Retoxbar. NRP also promotes models, DJs and Latin culture with a style that has not been exposed to London yet. I have promoted and have been featured in the South London Press, i-D Magazine and also in some webpages such as: partyvibe.com, scandalbag.com, worldmusiccentral, dontstayin, uksalsa, webflyers, LondonBusinessdirectory, amongst others. Finally my record boxes are full of Latin house, a little bit of Dance, Salsa, merengue and a small set of drum and base while on my CD cases I have got: Cumbias, 80's. 90's, 00', San Juanitos, La Banda, heavy & romantica Salsa, Merengue, Bachatas, Funky House, RnB, Latin hip-hop, Reggaeton & of course musica de Chupe (Julio Jaramillo, Trio los Panchos etc.)
Introduction
REGGAETON hit London in a big way with Rumba FM. Dj's playing: Tego Calde, Chombo, Don Chezina and of course El General, Lisa M, Francesca and Big Boy. Well the story goes a little bit like this.. In the mid 80’s the fusion of Reggae and rap in Spanish conquered Panama. By the early 90’s in Puerto Rico Reggaeton was born (a hybrid of Reggae, hip-hop, free styling rap & Salsa influence). Since then this new genre of music has not stopped and has exploded taking the Americas: North, Central and South by storm. These high-energy beats that are sweeping across global dance floors will keep anyone with a pulse bouncing off the walls. In 2001 Reggaeton hit the airwaves of South London through Rumba FM. The only Latin radio station broadcasting all the Latin Urban beats. The Reggaeton furor in the planet has a new dance concept called EL PERREO. In PERREO the bodies overcome the limits of the skin looking for the uninhibited contact, these movements of Reggaeton are explicit. The PERREO is a dance where nothing can be hidden; EL ROCE provokes combustion of energy that explodes corporal temperature. Reggaeton its not just music, its culture and has its own language e.g. Cangri: Someone very tidy and attractive (te ves cangri).
