Diamond Doves are the most precious species in the dove family. They have a most delicate coo.

The female has a coo that sounds alot like the male except with a sour throat.

The male diamond dove's coo is very soothing and low keyed, not loud at all.

SEXING YOUR DIAMONDS:

If you have a male diamond dove the sex is very easy to confirm, unlike other birds there is no surgical application needed.

The male will have a bigger orange ring around the eye socket than the female. The size of the ring is quite different and obvious.

MATING RITUALS OF DIAMONDS:

Male Diamond Doves will puff their chests.
Male Diamond Doves will dip their heads up and down.
Male Diamond Doves will fan their tails.
Male Diamond Doves will coo consecutively two or three times.

Females will have a coo, but will do no displaying or head dipping and chest puffing.

CLUTCHES FROM DIAMONDS:

She will nest for 12 to 18 days from the time she lays her eggs.

The babies will leave the nest 3 to 4 weeks after hatching, but may tend to stay with Mom & Dad as long as they don't interfer with the next clutch.

After 3 or 4 clutches per year, breeding should stop. You must remove the nest or separate the couple. (which wouldn't make me too happy!)

Enjoy your Diamonds Doves!!!!!
