WHEN WE FIRST CAMP TO THIS CAMP
(to the tune "When I first came to this land")
.
When we first camp to this camp
Everything was very damp
So Ditewig’s sold 4 sets of boots
And we did what we could
And our friends said, "What’s with you,
There is always heavy dew"
But the campers were sweet and good
And we did what we could.

When we first came to Lowy
We could live our own philosophy,
So we got ourselves some bunks
And we did what we could
And we called the bunks by funny names
And we made-them-play gaga and other funny games.
And our friends said, "What’s with you,
There is always heavy dew"
But, the campers were sweet and good
And we did what we could.

When this camp to us was sold
We were 20-something years old
So Neil and Steve grew moustaches
And we had lots of babies.
And that made us look respectable
Cause it really was quite objectionable
And, what WERE those parents of our campers thinking
To send their kids to us when we had just passed "legal drinking"
And we called the bunks by funny names
And we made them play gaga and other funny games.
And our friends said-"What’s with you,
There is always heavy dew"
But the campers were sweet and good
And we did what we could.

When we first came in the spring
Everyone was inhaling
So we told them no, no, no!
And we did what we could
And they listened to our plea
and-said, "It’s only chicory".
And that made us look respectable
Because it really was quite objectionable
And what WERE those parents of our campers thinking
To send their kids to us when we were just past legal drinking.
And we called the bunks by funny names
And we made them play gaga and other funny games.
And our friends said "What’s with you
There is always heavy dew"
But the campers were sweet and good
And we did what we could.

When, at camp, one year, Oh Lord,
Sima A. got very bored
So, she changed the names of the days
And we did what we could.
Thursday’s Mickey, Friday- Rickies, and Sunday was Bob’s
Cause they all had done such wonderful jobs.
And they listened to our plea and-said, "It’s only chicory"
And that made us look respectable
Because it really was quite objectionable
And what WERE those parents of our campers thinking
To send their kids to us when we were just past legal drinking.
And we called the bunks by funny names
And we made them play gaga and other funny games.
And our friends said, "What’s with you
There is always heavy dew"
But the campers were sweet and good
And we did what we could.

When at camp, we had the power
We did change the time and the hour
No bug juice, just lots of water
And we did what we could.
An individual swim, in the morn
On Homestead Day, we picked fresh corn
Inedible health snacks at Lake Lowy
But cookies and milk before O.D.
Thursday’s Mickey, Friday - Rickies, and Sunday was Bob’s

And that made us luck respectable,
Cause it really was quite objectionable
