We're tracking a progressive system moving across the Deep South tonight that brought a wintry mix of wet snow, sleet and chilly rain across the northern half of Georgia into western South Carolina on Monday.
The system will move into South Carolina early tonight. Colder air will attempt to work its way back into the system and we could see a mix of cold rain with some wet snow into the overnight hours. While we're not looking for much in the way of accumulation, if enough cold air works into the system with precipitation still in the area, a dusting or coating of snow on non-road surfaces will be possible in spots. There are no advisories in effect for the region and roads are expected to be just wet.
With the system moving away from the area Tuesday morning, only scattered clouds will remain across the area. Temperatures will dip toward the freezing mark and support the possibility of patchy ice especially on bridges and overpasses early Tuesday. Sunshine will dominate Tuesday afternoon with temperatures rebounding to seasonably chilly levels, close to 50 degrees.
