week 8 NORTHAMPTON INDIANS VS OLNEY EAGLES
OLNEY EAGLES SPOIL HOMECOMING
| The Olney Eagles 75lb Jv team played hard nosed football as they went to Mt. Airy field and spoiled the undefeated Mt. Airy Bantams homecoming and win streak to improve to 7-0-0 on the year.CONGRATULATIONS! This game lived up to all the hype as OLNEY did too as they ran away with a 14-7 victory over a favored Mt. Airy team on Saturday October 30, 2004. This game was a very good defensive battle and the score showed that. The Eagles went into a hostile environment and played an unbelievable game. We are very very proud of them! Way to represent the organization!
GAME SUMMARY:Olney started the game out kicking off to the Bantams. The Olney defense made it tough for Mt. Airy as they pushed the Bantam offense back and forced a 4-and-out. On the Eagles first offensive possession from the Bantam 40 yardline they pounded the middle for 20 yards with some runs by Juwan "J.D." Drew, Shyheim "Smokey" Ladson, Xavier Espinosa "Espinoooooosa" and Dillon "Flash" White. Those runs up the middle made the outside available as Olney didn't hesitate to send Shyheim Ladson on a reverse for a twenty yard TD! Olney goes up 7-0 early. As a result of a great defensive battle there would be no more scores in the 1st quarter. On Mt. Airy's first drive in the second quarter their running back #44 made a nice cutback and skated for a 30 yard TD as the extra point would tie the game up at 7-7. The defenses for both teams made some standout plays as they ended scoring for the first half. The Eagles were set to receive the ball at the start of the second half. The intensity of the Eagles picked right back up after a phenomenal kick return by Daryll "D.W." Worley who tight-roped the sideline down to the Bantams 32 yardline. As on the first Olney drive of the game they repeated the steps in the second half on the 1st drive. Olney ran the middle down field. Coming up on a big 4th and 1 to go Cody "Mr. Celebrity" Watkins runs the quarterback sneak and picks up 10 yards. Mt Airy defense would soon adjust to the Eagles inside running game with the blitz. Once again that opened up the outside as Shyheim Ladson would get the reverse call again as he raced 6 yards to the corner of the endzone.TD! Olney Eagles! Xavier Espinosa would run behind the left guard Mikey "Porky" Ramirez to get the extra point. Olney-14 Mt. Airy-7.Olney defense would then shut everything down from then on. Late in the fourth quarter with the score still 14-7 the Bantams find themselves down and in pass mode. There was only one problem with pass mode, well I'll say 5 problems as in defensive lineman Devon Forth, Tajae "sargeant" Bryant, Dillon White, Daryll Worley, and Tyrell Gross. Those five made very little time for Mt. Airy quarterback to drop back which would result in incomplete throws and some key sacks to help seal the game. The pass defense was great as defensive backs Bernard Irving, Tyriq Smith, Cody Watkins, and Joe "J.J."Johnson would keep the Mt. Airy receivers in check. The linebackers persuits were excellent as Corey Battle, Shyheim Ladson, And Xavier Espinosa would keep the Bantams main speedster #22 contained and in the mud. As a result of those great turns of events the Olney Eagles defeated the Mt. Airy Bantams 14-7.
GET WELL!

WHO'S NEXT:BRING ON THE BANTAMS
This week the Olney Eagles take on the the Mt. Airy Bantams in what is the most highly anticipated game of the year. The last time these two teams met was in 2003. Going in to week 7 last year both teams were undefeated preparing to face off. Mt. Airy was the favorite due their previous seasons as champions. What they didnt know was the Olney 75lb jv team was just as disciplined as they were. It showed in this game as the Eagles beat the Bantams 19-0 at Olney. This year the Eagles have to go up to Mt. Airy to play. Some of the Eagles players will get to see their old defensive coordinator from a year ago when they played with Olneys 65lb team. That former Eagles coach is now the Mt. Airy 75lb jv head coach.Make sure you go see the game on Saturday October 30th, 2004 at Mt. Airy 3:00PM.
