My name is Cora and I am a sophomore at Mona Shores High School. I play clarinet in the marching band, and it's basically my life! Wind Sectionals start the first week of July, and pre-camp starts a week before band camp...normally the first weeks of August. Its anywhere between 1 and 1 1/2 weeks long. We practice 12-4, and 6-8...then there's BAND CAMP! Its really not that bad once your not a freshman. Our day starts at 7 A.M. and ends at about 11:30 P.M., with 9 hours of practicing.
Its all worth it once competition starts. The best feeling in the world is winning...especially beating JENISON BUTT! And of course, the friendships that I've made in band are the strongest. You basically spend every day with them, except for Sundays, so you get to know everyone. I even met my current boyfriend in band! |
