SAILOR VENUS
Aino Minako was know as Sailor V long before any of the other Senshi existed. She lived in England, where she fought crime and also had a few video games named after her. She got her powers from a white cat named Artemis. One day when she was in her room and Artemis gave her a crescent-shaped compact. When she opened it she saw herself with a red mask that covers her eyes and a crescent moon on her forehead. Just like Usagi she thought she was sleeping so she really didn't believe Artemis. That was the day she became the fighter for love and justice, Sailor V. One day Artemis told her it was time to move to Japan to help the other Senshi. The first time they met was when Zoicite and Kunzite where trapping the senshi and Sailor V said "no matter how hard it is, you should never give up." Then Sailor V appeared and took off her mask to become Sailorvenus. She then shot her crescent beam at Kunzite hands and the barrier broke freeing the scout. That was when Sailor V became one of the Senshi Sailorvenus. Usagi and Minako are alike and are great friends with each other. The only difference between the two is Minako is more out going and enjoys sports.

Sailor Moon is the typical main character for Japanese anime. She has long golden blond hair, brought up in 2 buns with ponytails streaming down. (Known as Odangos in Japan). This is where her nickname, Odango Atama, comes from. Usagi is 14 years old when the series first begins, and is considered an amazing character, because she's a clutz, crybaby, horrible at school and always late, yet can magically pull herself together in an emergency. Being horrible in school is even worse in Japan, they value school greatly. Usagi lives with her parents and brother Shingo in Minato-ku.
In the first episode, Luna, a black cat with a crescent moon on her forehead, introduces herself to Usagi, and explains to her the other identity Usagi possesses inside her, the superhero Sailor Moon. The responsibility of saving the world helps Usagi to grow older and mature, slowly growing out of her crybaby stage. As the fighter Sailor Moon, she fights evil to keep the Earth free of enemies. With the help of the other Senshi, Usagi goes through a lot of personal growth, and eventually becomes a magnificent fighting force with the others, fighting for freedom and justice. Usagi has a great amount of potential power, but seems to only use what she has to, to defeat the enemy. When her friends and the world are threatened however, she can always destroy the enemy to save everyone. Throught the series, Sailor Moon gradually becomes stronger, as she learns with experience, and from learning her destiny she realizes what needs to be done. Although Sailor Moon is one of the strongest senshi, together with the others they are even more powerful and successful. Each senshi is strong in a different way, so together they are strong in every aspect.
During the Silver Millennium, Usagi was Princess Serenity of the Moon Kingdom. She admired the Earth's beauty and would sneak off the moon to visit her love, Prince Endymion of the Earth, despite several warnings by the inner senshi, her guardians, and her mother, Queen Serenity. After the battle on the moon, her mother used her last bit of power to send Usagi and the other children of the moon back to Earth to be reincarnated. It is later when Usagi learns that she is Serenity reborn. Along with her and the other senshi, the Queen also sent Prince Endymion, who on Earth is known as Mamoru. The senshi are also known as the Planet Princesses, they are the protectors of the queen, Neo Queen Serenity in the future, the 30th century.
Usagi is a very bubbly, enthusiastic person, but often acts very childish. However, Usagi is a very loyal girl to her friends, she is always very friendly and outgoing to others. The one thing that saves Usagi is that she cares about others. She cares about what people think and how they feel, and nothing will bring her to action faster than hearing about a friend in need or in danger. Even if she fights with her friends (Like Hino Rei), she still cares for everyone. Her main best friend since she was young is Naru, but it is easy to consider all of the inner senshi her best friends too, because she cares for them as much as she cares for Naru. Usagi does not sure the same kind of friendship with the Outer senshi, though she still respects them all very much. Sailor Saturn has the most affectionate relationship with Usagi, amongst the outers. Her strongest relationships tend to be with the ones that push her, especially Luna and Rei.
Usagi's greatest strength is found in love, and her good heart. Usagi and Mamoru have a very strong love, you can't really talk about Usagi without mentioning him. Chiba Mamoru is basically the love of Usagi's life, and she is the love of his life as well. Their everlasting love for each other, of the Moon Princess Serenity for the Earth Prince Endymion, was why they both died back in the Silver Millenium, Endymion died protecting Serenity, and she died of grief for his loss. In the present, their reincarnations discover each other again, giving them a second chance. The whole series deals with the lasting bond between them, an enduring love in a dangerous life, where it is very possible that they could lose each other at any moment in time. Although Mamoru isn't one to show his affection, he always returns his love to Usagi. Usagi and Mamoru are opposite in that she is always one that openly confesses her love. Mamoru has the general qualities that Japanese males think that a guy should possess. His whole attitude is meant to be a reflection of Japanese culture. He's smart, charming and handsome, but rarely shows his feelings. In Japanese Anime, male protagonists typically show those characteristics. Despite this, Mamoru is kind and warm to Usagi. Even though they have had their times where they don't get along (mainly in Sailor Moon R) they always patch things up. At first, Mamoru and Usagi on Earth had hatred towards each other. He started calling her Odango Atama, because of her pigtails, that look like rabbit ears. (Seiya in Sailor Stars also calls her this) In one episode, Mamoru and Usagi are trapped in an elevator and he tells her about his past and why he needs the crystal. This is when they learn their secret identities, and about their unknown past in the Moon Kingdom. When Tuxedo Kamen was captured by the enemy and brainwashed to be evil, Sailor Moon found the goodness in his heart and healed him.
In Japan, Usagi's voice was mainly done by Mitshuishi Kotono. In Japan, Usagi's voice was mostly done by Mitshuishi Kotono. Kotono is well known for playing Mink in "Dragon Half," and Misato in "Neon Genesis Evangelion." She also has a healthy career as a singer. When Kotono was in a car accident, Sailor Chibi Moon's voice, Araki Kae, took over for a couple episodes.
