Terius Gray, also known as Juvenile, has put out 400 Degreez and has been on the charts for months. His hit single HA is making headlines with rap listeners all around the world. Of course, HA isn't the only good song. The whole album is good. 400 Degreez definitly deserved the acclaimed ratings it got. Which were 4 MICS from The Source, XL from XXL, and a video that stuck around on countdowns everwhere such as MTV, The Box, and BET. His upcoming release,"The G Code" is also hightly anticipated
About thirteen years ago in uptown New Orleans, Juvy started rapping for the same reason that a lot of kids do things. "The main thing that really made me rap is 'cause my momma didn't want me to rap. So that was like a sneakout thing. I was sneakin' around and I got good at it and she had to accept it. And after a while, when I started payin' bills, she didn't have a choice but to say, 'I'm dowm witcha.' Same way with my daddy. He was like, 'If that's what you love to do, do it.' If you go back to New Orleans, I insipired a whole lot of other behind me." At a very young age Terius was given the name Juvenile - a name that he finds very appropriate. "That's an old neighborhood name, man. I was so young, everytime I used to say something, everybody used to say, 'Man, you don't know nothing, go ahead you little juvenile.' And as I grew up I just got used to it and I was like, 'man, that's the perfect name for me'" At around the same time, Juvenile started a group called the UTP and began entering local talent shows to get noticed.
He eventually got involved in a local dance music scene that was known as "bounce" and started turning some heads. He recorded a song in 1991 called "Bounce For The Juvenile" for a local artist called DJ Jimi. It was considered the first bounce song and would earn him a four year deal with a New York record label. That deal would unfortunately become his nemesis and lead to him giving up rapping due to frustration. "I quit. Tha Label drove me to that. They wanted me to do bounce music and I was tellin' them, 'hey man, I'm a rapper, y'all got me twisted.' And I still wound up doing it 'cause I got so much love for music, man. I went on and did it, didn't benefit from it, felt played, felt like it wasn't gonna happen. That was the downfall for me. I just gave it up."
