"A Celebration of Hope"
Hope is defined as "wishing for something with the expectation of its fulfillment";
"to look forward to with confidence or expectation!"
In 2004, The Pride of Salem looks to the music of Karl Jenkins for
it's fresh and new sounds. Featuring music from both the
"commercial" world and new age style, this music will excite and
please audiences at all levels. Tom Wallace (with Arranger's Publishing
Company) has taken Jenkins' music and created an exciting and
passionate score, and through visual images and the SHS Guard,
look for new and entertaining visual looks this fall.
We begin with a beautiful chorale featuring dancers interpreting
the music followed by a tempo changewith silks entering the field
in groups of six. Look for the layering of the flags followed by a big flag unison move!
This is followed by the ballad which will feature a flugelhorn soloist,
and watch the guard here! You will recognize the next section - "Palladio"-
which is featured in the "Diamonds" commercial.
Watch as the hornline evokes memories of diamonds in the drill.
The closer begins with an interesting time signature of 5/4 - giving an uneven feel to the music.
This gives way to the driving rhythms of "Cantus" which leads to the
percussion feature! As always - let the drummers know if you like it -
they always respond to the crowd!
Finally, with the strains of "Adiemus", the band closes
with a final push and energy to bring Hope alive! We hope that you enjoy
"A Celebration of Hope!"
