I chose the "internet" name of Sidereal, in part because it is a play on my true name, but also because it is a philosophical description of me. I look at a blue summer sky, and cannot quite forget that beyond lies a vast universe, one that reaches beyond the ends of our comprehension.
I remember, as a girl, standing with my father on the deck of our country home and staring upward together in awe at a dark sky filled with the crusty sparkle of countless tiny suns, seared by the occasional trail of a shooting star.
Our daily struggles, our likes and dislikes, our love, our hate, our tasks and ambitions... all fall into puny perspective in comparison with the mysterious and wondrous nature of the universe.
But being human and technologically bound to this solar system, living here on this beautiful earth, we have no choice but to live our daily lives in pursuit of all those things that get us from one day to the next. The primitive methods of mankind have evolved, but our basic drives and needs remain much the the same, despite the great mystery that surrounds this blue jewel planet...
