The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in 1981 and it has grown several folds and has become the most sought after department in the college. The under graduate student intake into the department is 120. 10% of the students are added at the 2nd year level from diploma stream. The department maintains a closed liaison with industries and ensures that students are trained as per current needs. The B.E. (ECE) has become is autonomous with effect from 2003-04 batch of students. The college conducts the syllabus, examinations and etc and the degree is awarded under the affiliation of Andhra University. With this flexibility in curriculum of the course, the board of studies intends to incorporate latest development in the fields of Electronics, Communication, Computers, Signal Processing and other allied fields in a dynamic fashion so that the student is exposed to the latest technological advancement in the course of his study.
There are 4 laboratories (Electronics-1, Electronics-II, Communication and Advanced Communication Laboratories), which are fully equipped not only to cater the needs of under graduate students but also provide facility to those who are interested in pursuing their research work. The non-teaching staff is also adequate. There are two Doctorates in the department and active research work in the fields of Antennas, Signal Processing, EMI/EMC, VLSI Design, Biomedical Engineering and etc is in progress. The faculty publishes their research papers in national / International Conferences / Seminars very frequently. The faculty are well motivated and take personal care of the students and council them at regular intervals and inform the parents / guardians about the progress of their ward regularly. Remedial classes are conducted to take more personal care of the students. This helps the student to prepare and face the competitive exams and interviews confidently. Personality development is taken care by conducting student seminars, group discussions etc.
The extra curricular and co curricular activities among the students and staff are encouraged and in the annual event INTERFACE the talents are brought out. The students are also encouraged to attend and publish papers in seminars, conferences and journals.
