Usually yes. because it is so important to have a freezer in London, London is so hot!!! you will be needing ice cubes every five minutes... 3 What are the room dimensions of the single en-suite? 4m x 4.5m. 4- How many blankets/sheets are provided? As many as you need. 5 What does the service charge constitute? Service charge is what you pay when you are renting a flat, not a house. It is usually around £65 per month. When staying with us, we pay it. 6 How often are the rooms cleaned/sheets & blankets changed, and is there a separate charge? Rooms are cleaned before you check in by the previous tenant. Also checked by our professional cleaner, You get the clean linen and then it is up to you to clean them during your weekly laundry. Cleaners do common areas, they do not have access to private rooms. You are required to clean up after yourself every time you use the kitchen or the bathroom. 7 Do I have to pay a bond/refundable deposit? Yes. £70 refundable deposit, you get back when you hand over back the keys and give the room back nice and clean just like it was when you moved in.If you are staying in the business rooms,you won't have to. 8 Are the ironing facilities communal? If so what is the charge if any, to use the iron/ironing board? Iron facilities are communal and its included in the price. 9 Are the showers in the single en-suite rooms coin operated? No, nothing is coin operated. 10 What type of heating is used in the rooms? e.g. oil, electric, gas?. Gas central heating, supplied by British Gas! 11 Can the temperature of the heaters be controlled/adjusted? Yes. 12 What months is the heating able to be utilized? When ever it is cold, usually October to April. 13- Does the heating automatically turn on/off at the times given on the web site? Yes. 14 Is the kitchen communal? In most cases, yes. 15- What appliances are provided in the single room? Most singles will have fridge, Sky TV & telephone.. 16- Are there direct dial phones in the room or coin operated public phones in the building? Depending on the building, few of them have a telephone in the common area, Most have telephone in the rooms. In both cases you can dial out using phone cards supplied by us.and its much cheaper, calling Australia using the prepaid cards is only 5pence,Caling Australia from public phone cost over a pound,that is well over 20 times more expensive 17 Do you provide electric blankets? No, they are a fire hazard 18- Is there a supermarket in walking distance ? Yes. 19- Are people able to send mail addressed to me? Yes. 20- If I make a booking for three weeks from the date of my arrival will it be relatively easy to extend my stay? Yes, a piece of cake...(chocolate cake)! 21 What appliances/facilities are provided in the kitchen? Depends on each individual house and owners. In all cases you don't need to buy a thing. We don't expect our guests to travel with frying pans in their suitcases! 22- Is there a laundry with washing machine and/or clothes dryer? If not, is there a Laundromat within walking distance? Yes, in most cases within walking distance there will be a laundrette. Very few flats have their own washing machine. You can also order a service wash for £6 per bag, picked from your house and brought back to you, cleaned, dried and folded...not bad you may think?..The same goes for drying cleaning. 23- As I arrive in London on a Sunday afternoon ,is it possible to arrange for someone to open my room and the like? Just discuss it with the us when you call or e-mail. 24 Do the single en-suite rooms have any wardrobes/cupboards/storage facility? Yes, all rooms do. 25 How does the Internet access work? Will I be able to access my Hot mail account for my mail? Will that cost extra? During your stay, you can use our email address. It is usually checked twice a day. To send an e-mail and access your hot mail and use the PC for your Cv or something will cost £5 per hour. 26- Do you serve breakfast? We don't for the moment .Unless you wish to stay in charlie's Hotel . 27 When is the time limit to make a reservation? You can book as early as you want or as late as you want, f you live it till the last hour like calling us from the Airport, you will still stand a chance as sometimes we have cancelations, if we are full we will recommend a place for you. You can make reservation using a credit card and pay cash on arrival. If you don't turn up, you will be charged £50 on your credit card. 28 Do you have many students? How is the atmosphere? Only 3% are students, the rest are working travellers. The atmosphere is great . 29- When shall I pay for the accommodation? On arrival, one week rent in advance plus £70 refundable deposit. 30 Do you know how to get a temporary job (as barmaid for instance)? Check out our London Guide for that, "Agencies list". 31-I have a credit card, if I ring you and give you the details, can I pay cash when I get there or will I be charged on credit card? When your reservation is accepted, you will be asked to call back in 15 minutes, the time we take to call the bank to check if the card is OK. You will not be charged on the credit card, it simply reserves your booking. If you fail to turn up, you will be charged anything from one night to 7 nights depending on your notice of cancellation. 32 Do you use gas or electricity for cooking? I personally do not cook. I live on take away, especially fish and chips. In the UK, they mostly use gas for cooking. 33 What about soccer/football? Do you have any stadium nearby? Yes, the nearest one is the famous Arsenal stadium, only a minute away. The nearest tube is Arsenal (Piccadilly line). 34-I am travelling with my girl friend, can we share the room? Yes, of course. You may share the double bed as well, unless of course you wish to sleep on the floor. 35 Do I get to meet other travellers and make new friends? Only if you behave yourself!!.. 36- Is smoking allowed in the rooms/flat/house? For your own safety, NO. Absolutely not. Smoking makes the rooms smell, plus it is a fire hazard. 37- Do you have rooms for vegetarians? I am not sure what to answer. If you mean a room full of vegetables, then the answer is no!!! But we can do that providing you don't ask for out of season vegetables. We don't usually discriminate against vegetarians! We will do our best but we don't guarantee 100% unless you receive confirmation from us, we are getting more and more places all the time, So the chances are quite high even when calling us from the Airport. 40- Are there any landlords or companies I should avoid? We can not answer this question without getting ourselves in trouble. You would be amazed what some landlords try to sell you. Some places are a pig sty, some places are infested with rats & mice. That will not be a problem if you like animals! If the landlord is trying hard to sell you the place then be careful, the cheaper it gets, the dodgier it is. I guess all we can say is be careful!! 41 What about room dimensions? Well the minimum for a single should be around 10 m2 and a double 12 m2 . 42 what happened when I fill the information on the booking form? depending on the request, we inform you if we can make a booking straight away or not, if not then we keep your details on the waiting list and if there is an opening as you requested we will contact you, If you are on the waiting list, it will be a good idea to inform us close to the date that you are still looking for a place. 43 Can I make a booking for january 1999? Yes all the rooms have at least one window and ofcourse you can open the window, For your information it is illegal to offer a room without natural light. 49- I don't have much education, if I get a simple job, cleaning job for example..Can I meet the expenses easily knowing London is expensive place to live? .It's not hard to meet expenses, they're everywhere... 50 Do you supply clean bed sheets, my friend told me, some landlords in London supply dirty bed sheets?. you will get clean bed sheets, duvet and duvet cover .and if you don't like the colour of the bed sheets. we will replace them. By the way, Vencraft ltd started 8 years ago as Dry cleaners. so We do all the cleaning of the bed sheets and service wash for our customers in our shop. we also do Garment dyeing if you are interested to dye your jeans. (or your hair!! !) 51 Do rooms have bunk beds? No, We don't. We are the Gainsborough studios, we don't do bunk beds and we don't do dorms and we don't put 10 people in the room and charge £22 per night like the youth hostels in central London without kitchen facilities and having to share the shower with 20 people and curfew at 11pm, when you come to London check it out for yourself..or have you heard of this place in London where they put 32 beds ( bunk beds) in the tent and charge £10 per night, thanks God they do that during summer only and you know how sunny is London!!!. 52 You said, its not safe to send Credit card details by e-mail, what shall I do if I don't have access to a fax machine to make a booking?
