Jay-Z speaks out:
In regards to his next album, "The Black Album", he has once again re-iterated that this will be his final album. Staff members of the Roc have apparently pleaded with him to change his mind, but Jay feels that he has accomplished a lot during his career and wants to move into other areas, most notably, acting. Jay-Z also stated that he will release a book in conjunction with his last album titled, "The Black Book". Jay-Z also confirmed that he is friends with Beyonce Knowles, but didn't really want to touch on the subject too much.
In regards to doing a joint with Nas in the future, Jay-Z didn't count out a Nas/Jay-Z collaboration and stated that he has no bad blood against Nas at all. The pair just don't see eye to eye, but he said never count out a possible collaboration. He also confirmed that there is no beef with Cam'ron at all seeing that they don't even know each other that well and he also applauds 50 Cent for putting hiphop's street image in the mainstream.

Snoop Dogg's Vehicle Hit by Gunfire- Bodyguard Wounded
A caravan of five cars, one containing rap music artist Snoop Dogg, was sprayed with gunfire from a passing vehicle in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles on Thursday night, injuring his bodyguard. The motorcade was headed south on Fairfax Avenue near Washington Boulevard about 9 p.m. when a car pulled alongside the group and an occupant fired at them repeatedly, police said. Two of the cars were hit and one man was injured, according to LAPD Officer Don Cox, a department spokesman. The victim was identified preliminarily as an off-duty Inglewood Unified School District police officer who was working as a bodyguard. Authorities said he suffered a non-life-threatening wound and was taken to Kaiser Foundation Hospital in West Los Angeles.
Sources said Snoop Dogg employs two Inglewood schools police officers.
Three men were taken into custody about a mile from the scene but were released several hours later after questioning at the Wilshire Division station, Cox said.
Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, was uninjured. The intersection remained taped off near midnight as police combed the area with dogs and flashlights.

4.25.2003 4:47:12 PM 50 Cent

50 Cent's latest release, the DVD/CD combination The New Breed, sold almost 250,000 copies its first week out, earned the number two spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. The New Breed includes a computer-generated video for 50 Cent's Dr. Dre-produced song "Heat," as well as a Riker's Island prison interview with G Unit member Tony Yayo and concert footage from the entire Shady Records roster--featuring Eminem, 50 Cent, D-12, and Obie Trice. Also included is new music from 50 Cent and the G Unit.
50 Cent says the best rap producer is Dr. Dre is "the best producer I've ever worked with. I worked with, you know, some good producers--like, I was with the Trackmasters for a little bit, and Jam Master Jay. I had all of them. But Dre is a different type...I haven't worked with a producer that was more comfortable with me doing whatever I want to do."

50 Cent will open for Eminem at Milton Keynes Bowl in the U.K. on June 21 and 22, among other dates. The shows will be the chart-topping rapper's first concerts in Britain, and are scheduled just prior to the release of "21 Questions," the next single from his multiplatinum album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.

After B.G. and Juvenile's efforts, Lil' Wayne was the third Hot Boy to strike out on a solo career. Longtime collaborator Mannie Fresh also produced Lil' Wayne's 2000 debut Tha Block Is Hot, which was released on Uptown/Universal but retained Cash Money's hardcore feel. Lights Out was released in December 2000. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide. Formed in 1997, the Hot Boys consisted of four youthful rappers from the same neighborhood of New Orleans, LA. Two of the four, B.G. and Juvenile, were already regionally successful, each having spent several years making a name for themselves in the local rap scene. The two newcomers, Lil' Wayne and Young Turk, rapped with a polished style that belied their age and inexperience. The Hot Boys' output was significantly similar, in personnel as well as musical direction, to the group members' solo albums. This, coupled with the fact that all four rappers were signed to the same label, made the Hot Boys as much a marketing ploy as an actual group. In 1997, the foursome released their debut album, Get it How U Live, on the then-independent Cash Money Records. The Hot Boys limited themselves to typical gangsta topics -- guns, sex and money. However, the four rappers' entertaining and varied deliveries and original backing tracks (provided by in-house producer Mannie Fresh) separated their ...
