"A VOICE OF HOPE"
A novel by
Thomas P. Flynn
Based on a true story about Viet Nam.
Pres. Lyndon B. Johnson said,
Those Marines in I Corps--which means Marine Country
in Vietnam--are also testing something new in warfare.
Combined Action Platoons protect the population of--
about 80 villages. The Marine squads in those platoons
train the villages' own Popular Forces--and then fight
beside them if necessary. It is going to be a long time
before the final results of their work can be assessed.

This site surrounds the novel and more!
In the novel, and in this web site,
I express some emotions and opinions.
Please draw your own!
I will respect them and would like
to hear your opinion ! As you know...
that is just one of the reasons that we fight a war!
Drop me an e-mail anytime !
Please take your time and review all the pages
in this site. In my book I present the facts,
limiting them to what I knew at the time of my
Viet Nam experience. Keeping it as close to the
truth as possible! Even to this date. Few people,
including many who served in Viet Nam, have
ever heard of CAC. A program that placed a
squad of Marines and one Navy Corpsman in
select villages across the I-Corps Area.
The marines were not just stationed there.
They live there as friends and neighbors,
* Working with the people;
* Assist in building schools, houses, and
drilling wells;
*Giving them medical treatment; showing
them how to get more from their land.
They bear the mark of the Commandant's
belief that the real victory is going to be won
in the hearts of the people.
The Popular Force troops trained by Marines
would be Vietnam's Voice of Hope in
winning this war !
The novel, A Voice of Hope, offers a different view
of that war from inside the villages and hamlets!
Like many...I'm still trying to understand ...
Thank you for visiting this site.
I hope you'll leave with a better understanding.
