Armageddon started off with the Tag Team Battle Royal. The Headbangers fought valiantly, but were the first team eliminated. Shortly after, both Acolytes combined to toss Mark Henry over the top, eliminating him and the Godfather. Too Cool and the Mean Street Posse followed suit. Edge and Christian were then eliminated, leaving only the Acolytes, the Dudleys and the Hardy Boyz. After a 3-D on Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy eliminated the Dudleyville natives while they celebrated. The Hardys battled the Acolytes tooth and nail until both Bradshaw and Matt Hardy both fell over the top. It was not apparent which superstar landed on the ground first, however, as the official was out of position. The match continued and Faarooq was tossed over the top, but once again the referee did not see it. The match finally ended when Jeff Hardy was tossed high over the ropes by Faarooq after he attempted to execute one of the Hardys' patented flying maneuvers. The Acolytes will head on to the Royal Rumble to compete for the tag titles.

Lilian Garcia interviewed Kurt Angle backstage. The Olympian stated that he knew Florida would appreciate a gold medal winner. This did not hold true, as the crowd booed Angle heavily as he headed to the ring to face Steve Blackman. The Lethal Weapon was on fire early, and Angle had to change his strategy. A moonsault attempt by Kurt failed, but Blackman couldn't gain an advantage. The superstars engaged in several intense exchanges, and many near-falls were attempted. Angle finally pulled out the win after a German Suplex with a bridge for the pin. After the match, Blackman attacked his opponent with his martial arts weapons.

Backstage, a speechless Michael Cole helped B.B. zip up her evening gown.

The women's Evening Gown in a Pool Match was next, with special referees, the Fabulous Moolah and Mae Young, officiating. Jacqueline, Miss Kitty and B.B. all ended up in the pool even before Ivory made her way to the pool area. The crowd was really into this one. Jackie was eliminated first by being stripped to her bra and panties, and B.B. soon followed suit. When Ivory tried to get B.B.'s bra, too, Kitty dragged the champ back into the pool. Kitty won the match, and the Women's Championship, when she stripped Ivory. After the match, Miss Kitty stripped down to only her panties as the crowd went wild! After that, Mae Young tried to do the same until Sgt. Slaughter put an end to that racket!

Backstage, Rikishi spoke with Kevin Kelly. He said a little rhyme and afterwards told Kevin that Rikishi represents all the "fat, healthy" people of the world. Phatu and Viscera then took on the Holly cousins. Rikishi blasted the Hollys quickly, but Crash barely got a shoulder up after Phatu dropped his huge ass upon him. Viscera was hesitant to tag in for some reason, but managed a Samoan Drop and a belly-to-belly suplex when he did enter the contest. The Hollys fought back, executing frequent tags along the way. It was not until Viscera blasted Rikishi with a spinning heel kick, apparently on accident, that the Hollys stole a victory. A post-match brawl between Phatu and Vis ensued.

Lilian spoke with Val Venis about his European Title match, and Val insisted that he would be the victor.

In a Three-Way European Title Match, D'Lo Brown, Val Venis and the British Bulldog all faced off. A good deal of the match was spent outsider the ring, with all three combatants battling fiercely. Combinations of the three men teamed up on the other throughout the match, but the alliances were short-lived. D'Lo almost got the win with a top-rope sunset flip on Val, but the Bulldog pulled the ref out of the ring. After D'Lo got a 'Lo Down on the Bulldog, Val broke the count with a Money Shot onto Brown. Venis then pinned the Bulldog to become the new European Champion.

Next up, Kane and X-Pac battled in a Steel Cage Match, a stipulation that was added on Sunday Night HEAT. In addition, Kane could only win the match by pinfall, while X-Pac could climb out of the cage to achieve victory. The two rivals began fighting outside the cage. X-Pac blasted Kane with the ring bell, but the Big Red Machine recovered and both men entered the ring. Both superstars went all out in the match, with both men tasting the steel on several occasions. During the match, the New Age Outlaws headed to the ring to cut the chains to the cage door with bolt cutters. The Outlaws tossed a chair into the ring before exiting. X-Pac laid out Kane with an X-Factor on the chair. Then, the degenerate handcuffed his opponent to the cage. When Tori tried to help, X-Pac gave her an X-Factor as well. Kane, however, was able to break the handcuffs. The Big Red Machine won after a clothesline from the top of the cage followed by a Tombstone.

In an Intercontinental Title Match, Chyna defended against her archrival, Chris Jericho. The first minutes of the match took place around the ringside area, with both Chyna and Y2J going into tables, chairs and stairs! When the match returned to the ring, Chyna nearly got a win after her handspring elbow. Jericho managed to tie Chyna up in the ropes, working over her injured thumb. Chyna escaped, and managed another near fall after countering Y2J's powerbomb attempt. Jericho exposed a turnbuckle, but couldn't manage to toss his opponent into the corner. Chyna did mange to use the steel to her advantage with a slingshot. The two exchanged near falls for several minutes until Y2J became the new Intercontinental Champion after Chyna tapped out to the Walls of Jericho. Chyna congratulated her foe after the match.

The Rock and Mankind faced off against the Outlaws for the Tag Team Championship. Action took place inside and outside of the ring during this one, as all four men gave it their all. The Outlaws successfully isolated The Rock while keeping Mick Foley at bay. However, the Great One was able to tag in Mankind after he laid out Billy Gunn. Mankind accidentally hit the referee with a punch, but still managed to get the Road Dogg in the Mandible Claw. Al Snow drilled mankind with Head while the ref was knocked silly, but The Rock took care of Al. Meanwhile, the Outlaws went to work on Mick. The Rock tagged back in and was a house of fire. After he Rock Bottomed Mr. Ass, the Rock went for the cover, but Al Snow returned to break up the count and give the match to the Rock 'n' Sock Connection via disqualification.

Next, the Federation Championship was up for grabs as the Big Boss Man took on the Champion, the Big Show. Early on, Show took Prince Albert out of the equation after chokeslamming him through the announcers' table. Boss Man's fate was sealed shortly after, as he fell victim to a Showstopper and the Big Show retained the Federation Championship.

No holds were barred as Triple H took on Vince McMahon in the highly-anticipated main event. Triple H had a sledgehammer in hand as he entered the ring. Stephanie McMahon cheered on her father from a front-row seat. McMahon got a quick advantage by tossing salt in Hunter's eyes. When Triple H recovered, the bout spilled out to ringside and into the crowd. Both men exchanged offense, but Vince gained a surprising advantage.

Mankind then headed to the ring with shopping cart full of weapons! Vince went to town on Hunter with a garbage can lid. Stephanie berated her husband when Vince deposited Hunter at her feet. The owner then battered Triple H with a crutch before "The Game" bashed Vince's head into the ring steps. Every time Triple H built some momentum, however, Vince came back! Hunter gained an advantage when he ran the shopping cart right into Vince's head at full speed. Then, Triple H leveled McMahon with a swinging machine gun back in the military weaponry area.

The two men continued fighting back into the parking area, with Vince getting pounded onto a truck. Suddenly, Triple H disappeared, and Vince followed him outside the arena. Had Helmsley surrendered? No way! Hunter almost hit the owner with a speeding car out of nowhere. As Vince dodged, Triple H left the vehicle to further attack McMahon. Hunter slammed Vince on the top of a limousine. Helmsley then proceeded to drag the owner all the way back into the arena.

When McMahon picked up a pipe, Triple H began to ascend one of the steel towers that were erected near the entranceway. "The Game" managed to shove Vince off the scaffolding and onto the arena floor twenty feet below. A busted-open Federation owner couldn't get to his feet, allowing Triple H to pick up a ring mic and berate his wife. When a bloody McMahon headed back to the ring, Helmsley pounded him some more. Armed with a pipe, Hunter tossed his opponent back into the ring. Unsatisfied with his weaponry, Triple H grabbed his sledgehammer. Vince countered with a low blow and then pounded Hunter with the pipe. Vince then grabbed the hammer, but Stephanie entered the ring, wanting to hit her husband. She didn't have the heart to hit Hunter, though, and the extra time allowed "The Game" to take the hammer back and pulverize Vince, scoring the pinfall win. After the match, Hunter appeared ready to hit his wife with the hammer, until the two embraced in the ring! The husband and wife left the arena hand-in-hand!
