After taking a beating on SmackDown!, the Godfather was out for revenge, and he asked Vince McMahon to give him a match at No Mercy. So it was the Pimp taking on Mideon, accompanied by Viscera. Viscera got himself involved in the match several times, but the plan backfired near the end of the match when the Godfather moved and Viscera went flying into the ring post. Without the assistance of his partner, Mideon was pinned after a Ho Train.
The Federation Women's Championship was on the line as Ivory defended against seventy-something-year-old Fabulous Moolah. Ivory tried to use her quickness to overcome Moolah and fellow septuagenarian Mae Young, who accompanied the Fabulous One and interfered liberally. Mae went flying off the ring apron several times when Ivory kicked her, dropkicked her and clobbered her with the Women's Title. But when Ivory turned her attention to Mae one too many times, Moolah rolled her up from behind and got the three count to become the new Federation Women's Champion!
In tag team action, the New Age Outlaws took on Crash and Hardcore Holly. One of the Holly cousins brought a steel chair into the ring, but the referee didn't see it until Mr. Ass planted Crash with the Fame-asser on the chair. The referee disqualified the Outlaws, awarding the match to the Hollys!
In the first-ever Good Housekeeping Match for the Intercontinental Championship, Jeff Jarrett took on Chyna. Jarrett got the pin after he clobbered Chyna with the Intercontinental Title. However, the referee ordered the match to continue as he ruled that the Intercontinental Title is not a household item. Jarrett was irate, and he set up the referee for the figure-four leglock. The Ninth Wonder of the World came from behind, nailed Jarrett with the guitar and pinned him to become the first woman ever to be Intercontinental Champion! Jarrett lost the match, and he lost his valet also, as Miss Kitty left on her own.
If the British Bulldog wants to be Federation Champion, he has to defeat The Rock first, and he got that opportunity as the two superstars faced off at No Mercy. The Bulldog looked like he had the match won after a powerslam, but The Rock got his foot on the ropes. The Rock made the most of his second opportunity, as he finished off the Manchester native with a Rock Bottom/People's Elbow combination.
Two ladders were positioned close to the ring for the decisive match in the Terri Invitational Tournament. Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, Christian and Edge competed in what will go down as one of the greatest Pay-Per-View matches ever. The four superstars traded countless high-impact maneuvers, knocking one another silly with incredible moves off the ladders. In the end, Edge climbed up one ladder and Christian and Jeff Hardy scaled the other. Matt Hardy tipped over one ladder, sending his brother flying over to the other! Jeff knocked Edge off, and climbed to the top to grab the prize -- $100,000 and the services of Terri!
Before the next match, The Rock appeared once again and challenged the winner of the main event. As The Rock made his way back to the locker room, he was attacked by a sledgehammer-wielding Triple H! The People's Champion was clobbered several times with the hammer. Medical crews attended to The Rock, but the "Great One" was not taken to a hospital.
The Rocks Rock n Sock Connection partner, Mankind, took on Val Venis in singles competition. Val proved that hes ready for the next level by putting a beating on the King of Hardcore. Val ended up pulling off what some would call a major upset when Mankind fell victim to the testicular claw.
X-Pac and Kane and the Acolytes have had several tag team battles in the past, but at No Mercy, it was every man for himself in a Four Corners Elimination Match. After several ass-kickin minutes, Bradshaw was eliminated after a Kane chokeslam, and the Big Red Machine was pinned seconds later after X-Pac nailed him with a spinning-heel kick off the top rope. X-Pac went on to win the entire match after he caught Faarooq flying off the top rope and planted him with the X-Factor.
The Federation Championship was on the line as Stone Cold Steve Austin made his return to the ring to attempt to regain the gold from Triple H. The two superstars battled through the crowd, where Austin countered Triple Hs Pedigree attempt with a monkey flip, sending Triple H flying into the official. So there was no referee to count when, back in the ring, Austin hit the stunner on the champion. Nor was there a referee after Triple H got up and hit the Pedigree by the time Earl Hebner ran from the back, Austin was able to kick out at two. As the match continued, Austin was able to attain a measure of revenge, as he grabbed a steel chair and clobbered Triple Hs knees repeatedly. Triple H was able to retaliate with a low blow. As both men recovered on the mat, The Rock appeared with a sledgehammer, also intent on revenge. He wound up to hit Triple H, but the champion ducked and The Rock hit Austin on his injured knee. After Pedigreeing The Rock, Triple H covered Austin, who was unable to kick out. Triple H retained the title, in spite of the fact that he could barely walk! An enraged Austin went chasing after Triple H, and the two superstars battled back through the locker room until Triple H escaped in a limousine |
